Questions and answers

Booking, arrival, the house rules and longer stays: what guests most often ask us. Anything else, email info@royalchambers.co.uk or call 07368 689640.

Booking and payment

Before you book
How do I book an apartment?

Choose your dates on this site and book online — it takes a minute. For a company, a long stay or three or more apartments, send us an enquiry instead and we come back with one rate for the whole stay.

Is the price I see the full price?

Prices are in pounds, for the apartment and the whole stay, and include VAT. The total shown before you book is what you pay for the stay. The security deposit is separate and refundable.

When do I pay?

It depends on the rate you choose: on the day you book for the Non-refundable Rate, 4 days before arrival for the Standard Rate, and 1 day before arrival for the Flexible Rate. If you book later than that, payment is due on the day you book.

How can I pay?

The ways to pay for your rate are shown at checkout, before you book. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes: £250 per apartment, due the day before arrival. We return it after check-out, as long as nothing is damaged or missing and the house rules have been kept.

How many apartments can I book?

Up to two at a time. For three or more, please contact us first at info@royalchambers.co.uk or on 07368 689640.

Cancelling and changing

Your rate decides
Can I cancel or change my booking?

That depends on the rate you booked. The Flexible Rate can be cancelled or changed free of charge until 1 day before arrival, and the Standard Rate until 4 days before. The Non-refundable Rate cannot be cancelled or changed. If you change to dates that cost more, you pay the difference; if they cost less, we refund it. You see the terms of each rate before you book, and they are repeated in your confirmation email.

How do I cancel or change a booking?

Email info@royalchambers.co.uk or call 07368 689640, quoting your booking reference. We confirm every cancellation or change in writing, and the time we receive your message is the time that counts.

How are the days counted?

Back from your arrival date, up to midnight UK time. With an arrival on 20 October, a booking on the Standard Rate can be cancelled free of charge until midnight at the end of 16 October.

Will I get my money back?

If you have already paid and you cancel within the free period, we refund the full amount, the way you paid. If we ever have to cancel your booking, we refund everything you have paid us.

What if I do not arrive, or leave early?

If you do not arrive and have not cancelled, we treat it as a late cancellation and charge the full price under your rate. If you leave early, the remaining nights are not refunded.

I booked through Booking.com or Airbnb. Who do I contact?

That website’s cancellation terms apply to your booking, so please cancel or change it through them.

Arrival and departure

Getting in and out
What time is check-in?

From 3pm. We send you the check-in instructions shortly after your booking is confirmed.

What time is check-out?

By 12 noon for bookings made directly with us.

What do you need from us?

The law requires us to record the full name and nationality of every guest aged 16 or over, and passport details for some guests. If these details are not provided, we may have to refuse the stay.

Where is Royal Chambers?

88 Castle Street, Glasgow G4 0SA, in the clock tower building next to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis are a few steps away, and George Square a short walk.

Is there parking?

There is a car park nearby, at about £18 a day and free from 6pm to 8am. It is not ours, so its prices and availability may change, and its own terms apply.

Is there a lift?

Yes. If it is ever out of order, the stairs are the way up, so if stairs would be difficult for you, please talk to us before you book.

House rules

During your stay
How many people can stay in an apartment?

No more than the booking is for, and no more than the apartment sleeps — each apartment’s page says how many that is.

Is there an age limit?

Guests must be 25 or older, unless they are parents or guardians staying with their children. Families are welcome with children aged 6 and over.

Can I smoke or vape?

No — not anywhere in the building or its grounds.

Can we have a party?

No. Parties, hen and stag parties and other gatherings are not allowed: we keep the building quiet for everyone staying in it.

Can I light candles?

No candles, incense or scent sticks, please. They are a fire risk.

What if something breaks?

Please tell us straight away about any damage or anything that is not working, so we can put it right. Damage beyond normal wear and tear caused by you or your group is your responsibility.

Longer stays and business

Weeks, months and teams
Are the apartments suitable for business stays?

Yes. Each has more room than a hotel room, a kitchen, a sitting area, Wi-Fi and a desk, so a working week feels like a week at home.

Can I ask about a longer stay or a team booking?

Yes — through the enquiry form on the long stays page. Tell us your dates, how many people and anything you need, and we reply with a rate for the whole stay.
